Japan Style

Thirty years of Japanese fashion was on display at a special show at the Seattle Art Museum.  More than 30 designers were showcased, though my favorites were:  Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, Junya Watanabe, Issey Miyake, Jun Takahashi, Hiroyuki Horihata, Makiko Sekiguchi, and Kenzo Takada.  Some of the most interesting displays included origami-style dresses shown both on mannequins as well as laid flat inside of frames, and a piece on shadows and light using whites, blacks, and peaches on gowns to miniskirts, each with different cuts and shapes.
